Tafic duo humble Brights charges
21 Nov 2016
Tafic head coach, Wrist Mmusi and his assistant Blessing Moyo had the last laugh when their charges thumped the Major David Bright coached, Morupule Wanderers 2-1 at the old Francistown Stadium on Sunday.
The trio, Bright, Moyo and Mmusi had earlier prior to the start of the Debswana First Division North (FDN) game had a tete-a-tete, seemingly comparing notes and the Tafic duo definitely getting some wisdom from the much travelled and experienced Maj Bright.
In the game, the trio put aside their pre-match pleasantries and went for each other, guiding their charges to a very entertaining game that Tafic ended up winning.
Both teams came into the game having won their previous weekend games and Tafic, with its support base growing with each game, proved to be the team to beat on the day.
Their attacking quartet of Mbatshi Elias, Mbatshi Machongo, Mooketsi Mampori and Kemoreng Batisani caused havoc for the Maj Bright charges as they combined well to stretch Wanderers defence.
Wandi Wandi, as Wanderers is affectionately called by its supporters back in Palapye had in its line-up experienced former Extension Gunners enterprising midfielder, Othusitse ‘Spheto’ Mahube and former Tafic winger Bakani ‘Swere’ Kangangwani.
The duo led their fellow teammates on an onslaught, but Tafic defenders such as Molebatsi Kangangwani, Thato Mosweu, who was playing with a head bandage, Ronald Selemane and Motseoatile Elijah were able to contain them.
They went for recess both sides leveled at nil all after their numerous attempts to get the first goal hit a blank, with Wanderers having lost one of its strikers, Maikutlo Moakofhi to an injury and replaced by Joseph Kabelo.
In the second half, Matjimenyenga as Tafic is affectionately called by its supporters proved to be more serious and on the 49th minute, Wanderers defender Kenalepe Mochai fouled Batisani inside the 18-yard area and referee John Palalani awarded him a penalty.
Mochai received a yellow card for the foul and Selemane stepped up to beat Wanderers goalkeeper, Molaodi Aron on the 50th minute to make it 1-0.
Thereafter, Machongo continued his runs and sent in a defence splitting pass, which Mampori tried to convert but was denied by Aron brilliantly on the 54th minute.
Wanderers pushed on for an equaliser with Maj Bright now up on his feet shouting instructions and were soon rewarded on the 70th minute when a left-footed scorcher by Ghalisano Johane left Tafic goalie, Abednico Morapedi sprawled on the turf to make it one all.
It did not take Tafic long to retain the lead when a free-kick taken by Mosweu was floated into the danger area and Mampori leaped high and headed a beautiful goal to win the game for his side on the 74th minute.
Wanderers tried all it could to equalise but Tafic defence was resolute and kept on until the final whistle to grab the much needed three points that now sees them lying on the second spot of the Debswana FDN behind BR Highlanders. BOPA
