An accident that occurred near Bela-Bela along the A1 road has claimed the life of Rasesa councillor, Ms Seasebeng Monyake while another councillor from Dikgonnye, Ms Reginah Rakgati has been hospitalised.

Speaking in an interview with Mochudi Police station commander, Supt Olebile Sitale confirmed the loss of life of the  councillor.  He said the two councillors were on their way to attend the Miss RADP beauty pageant in Gaborone when the accident happened.

Supt Sitale said the accident involved three vehicles including a Range Rover which was coming from the south going north and the Voxy vehicle which was going to the south and a Toyota Tazz. He said their initial investigations show that the driver of the Range Rover lost control of his vehicle and swerved to the oncoming traffic from the north leading to a fatal head-on.

He added that the passengers on the Toyota tazz sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the Voxy vehicle driven by councillor was badly damaged.

Supt Sitale said in another incident, Mochudi Police were investigating a case in which a man at Morulaoesi cattlepost went on a shooting spree, while other people were sleeping injuring only one person.

He said they had arrested a 34- year-old man to help the police with the investigations.

In another incident, still in Rasesa, he said a four-year-old child fell into a well with the mother to gather some firewood.

He said they managed to recover the body of the child and was confirmed dead at the hospital. BOPA
