Guma calls for respect of leadership

Member of Parliament for Tati East, Mr Samson Guma, has underscored the need for political leaders to respect traditional leaders and the  country's leadership.

He said they should put aside their political differences and always be loyal, faithful to their leaders noting that they should listen and advise them in a good manner.

Mr Guma made the remarks during the victory celebration for Maun East MP, Mr Kosta Markus.

Mr Markus emerged victorious in the 2014 election for Maun East constituency and he hosted a victory celebration to thank his electorates.

Mr Guma encouraged Mr Markus to work closely with Maun West, Mr Tawana  Moremi.

He discouraged political leaders from the use of unacceptable language which belittle others noting that they should understand that they were voted to represent the interests and aspirations of their electorates.

He also pointed out that political leaders should not be shy to be apologetic as that alone could promote unity and cooperation.

Mr Guma advised Maun East MP to also work closely with his electorates as they had mandated him with the responsibility to be their mouth piece.

He said Ngamiland was one of the districts lacking behind in developments and urged his counterpart not to be apologetic to complain about his constituency adding that he should make sure ministers visit the area to account to the affected communities.

Another speaker, MP for Boteti West, Mr Slumber Tsogwane thanked the electorates for electing a visionary leader who is passionate about developing them. He described Mr Markus as a harder worker eager to bring developments that would make an impact in the lives of his electorates.

He cited the construction of a primary school at Khwai village noting that Mr Markus made efforts to approach private companies to construct the school without government assistance.

For his part, Mr Markus thanked the electorates for entrusting him with the responsibility to represent their interests and aspirations at Parliament. He assured them that he would work tirelessly until he completes his term in 2019.  BOPA
