Parents of pupils at Manyana Primary School have been urged to maintain a strong backbone on their children’s academic excellence.
Musician, Mr Mponang Ketshabile, known as Gongmaster in the music industry, said this during the school’s prize giving ceremony recently.

The talented music icon also advised students to refrain from indulging in sexual relations, drugs and alcohol explaining that these bad habits consumed their time of focusing on their studies.
The school’s head teacher, Ms Annah Ntane, said the importance of prize giving was to motivate students to do well knowing that they would get a reward. She said it also gave parents and teachers competition to up their game.
Ms Ntane said Manyana primary has been performing on average for the past three years with a slight improvement last year by attaining 63 per cent in the primary school leaving examinations.
She said Manyana-Mogonye councillor Mr Peter Sethibe had adopted the school and gave them five trophies to compete for them every month as a way of improving results.
For his part, Mr Sethibe said parents should love their children.
Consequently, children should respect their parents and take studies seriously.
