16 Nov 2016
Known as Ouza for stand -up comedy, Gaoakanyetse Elijah of Maun has praised Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports Development for making him renowned comedian, through the President Day Arts Competition.
He was invited by another artist, Gaolathe Seelo to perform at a South African comedy show in Pretoria alongside other Batswana comedians such as Odirile Brooks.
He also performed at a comedy show known as laugh a lot in 2014.
In an interview, Eijah explained that since people saw him performing at the president competitions, he was now being booked to perform at different occasions and functions.
“Comedy is now my source of income, I thank the President for coming up with this noble idea, and I also thank minister Thapelo Olopeng and his Ministry for making it to happen” he said.
Elijah explained that he was inspired by comedians such as Trevor Noah and that in the near future he intended to record DVDs and travel the world to perform his jokes.
At first he was not aware that he was a comedian, until in 2012 when a friend made him discover his talent. BOPA
