Career Dreams receive international recognition

In recognition of the good work and education offered by a Maun -based tourism institution named Career Dreams, World Bank had offered the institution a three year contract to train more than 200 community members from the Okavango, Boteti and Chobe.
Speaking in an interview, the college director Mr Kenneth Karanja who was delighted about the development said they received a recognition from the World Bank regarding them as a skills development centre in tourism development and related programmes therefore gave them a three year contract to train more than 200 community members.
He further said the United Nations and European Union have also recognised and awarded them a two year contract to train over 20 people from Pandamatenga village and 40 community members from Tsodilo and surrounding villages respectively.
Mr Karanja said for over 10 years now the college had impacted many lives of the communities in Ngamiland, Okavango, Chobe and Boteti as well as the whole country by empowering them with the knowledge and skills that makes them ready for the industry adding that the college has answered the unemployment problem in the region and the country.
He said Career Dreams has registered with Botswana Qualification Authority therefore it was in good standing to serve the nation with quality training and education which will serve to develop the country.
“In our College, we have so far trained 5 000 students and 75 per cent of them are permanently employed in big lodges and safaris around the region and we are looking forward to continue shaping the nation in a form of quality training that we offer here as well as improve in areas where we fill needs improvement to help us compete internationally,” he said.
Mr Karanja said they have also plans to open branches in Ghanzi and Shakawe to accommodate more students as a form of taking service to the people. He said it was important to open more branches in Okavango to cater for those from far places like Gudigwa, Seronga and Mogotho in the Okavango Sub-district.
He further said opening a branch in Shakawe will accommodate market from neighbouring Namibia as many of them have shown interest to study with the College but the location of the college hindered such achievement therefore taking it near them will help.BOPA
