A group of eight youth from Tutume and surrounding areas have taken to giving back to the community.
The young people, whose ages range between 20 and 25, started their charitable journey by staging a beauty contest titled Miss Nkange Constituency BOT50.
Besides raising funds, Miss Nkange Constituency BOT50 was meant to help young women realise their dreams of showcasing their modelling talents.
With beauty queens from all the corners of Nkange Constituency, the event motivated the youth group to keep helping and adding value to the society.
The contest, which was held on Independence Day managed to raise P10 000.
Mr Gopolang Chikulu, group secretary said if it was not for the support from MP Edwin Batshu, Professor Never Tshabang and BN Constructions and Mojanaga Investment, the event could not have been successful.
He said on top of what they got, they also agreed as a group to contribute P1 000 each in order to help the less privileged.
Mr Gopolang said the first to be spotted was a mother of five at Nkange’s Mabuwe ward.
He said what them to help was that two of the children are living with disability, which problems makes it impossible for the mother to look for a job to provide for her family.
The beneficiary, Ms Masopa Bamilili, 48, said she is thankful that people of such a young age are able to assist her and her family.
She said being a mother of children living with disabilities is not easy because they need more attention and thanked the group for building her a room, a toilet and connect water in her yard. BOPA
