Social ills call for collective efforts

Molepolole North MP, Mr Mohammed Khan, says the social ills bedeviling schools require collective approach.
Speaking during a kgotla meeting at Ntlolengwae ward in Molepolole, Mr Khan said political leaders should join hands and collectively map the way forward on how best the issue could be addressed instead of playing blame game.
He assured the meeting that he would collaborate with Molepolole South MP, Dr Tlamelo Mmatli, and the school management to strategise on how best they could tackle the situation at Kgari Sechele Senior Secondary School.
He, however, blamed parents for not doing enough in fighting the ills at their homes to complement governments’ initiatives.
Mr Khan said the declining performance in schools was not only fueled by students’ appalling conduct, but attributed this to depressive environment evident at teachers’ squatters with dilapidated structures Some teachers, he said commute regularly from as far as Tlokweng.
Mr Khan said allegations that opposition led constituencies were overlooked as far as developments are concerned were misleading and unfounded saying most BDP constituencies were also undeveloped.
He attributed that to the issue of proximity, saying Molepolole has less development despite that it had been under BDP representation for quite a long time.
Kgosi Boyce Mookotsane of Ntlolengwae expressed concern over children’s involvement in criminal activities while parents watched without taking any appropriate action.
He expressed disappointment over reporting of internal issues to officials leaving behind area leadership.
“Let us improve the manner in which we do things to be able to speak with one voice on issues affecting the welfare of people in the area,” he said.
Meanwhile, VDC chairperson Ms Seroba Otukile has bemoaned Ipelegeng officials’ interference on issues affecting the area. BOPA
