Aspiring male contestants aged 18-28 who want to take part in Mister Gaborone pageant are invited to auditions to be held on November 19 at  Molapo Piazza's Superfit Gym and Wellness Centre in Gaborone.

The chosen few will partake in the April 2017 finale to be held at the Three Dikgosi Monument.

Speaking in an interview, event directo, Oratile Phofhedi said Mister Gaborone is a male pageant tailored to raise awareness on social issues such as safe male circumcision, sexual transmitted diseases, gender based violence and unemployment in regard to men and also to showcase the talent of Batswana through local designers, models and artistes.

“With this event we are trying to spread a positive message to the nation that men can be responsible leaders in today's society,” he said, adding that height is not restricting fact as in other pageants.

He indicated that auditions, whose  registration fee is P200, would start at 9am and end at 5pm.

Phofhedi further said they intend to partner with Men and Boys for Gender Equality Organisation and The Ministry of Health and Wellness' Safe Male Circumcision.

“This event is themed Monna Tlhogo, which means a man is the head. A man's physical structure has been made to be that of a strong human being and to be more task oriented, which is why we believe men can lead a specific group of people and it is our main objective to empower the young men to raise awareness on certain issues,” he concluded.
