SPTC starts counseling campaign

The Selebi Phikwe Town council is in the processing of embarking on post BCL Mine closure counseling campaign.
The town clerk, Mr Poloko Mojalemotho said as the local authority, they were obliged to avail such services to the public of Selebi Phikwe
He mentioned that they would be engaging in a house to house counseling campaign in the town.
He said their aim is to engage former BCL Mine employees, their spouses and children as well as other family members.
He explained that the Selebi Phikwe Town Council Social Welfare and Community Development section would be working hand in hand with the Social Welfare and Community Development Department from the Ministry Local Government and Rural Development through-out the campaign.
He further said private organisations dealing in counseling would also be engaged to assist in this endeavor if the need arose.
Mr Mojalemotho noted that the closure of BCL Mine has had a psychological, emotional and social impact on the Selebi Phikwe community.
He said the motive behind the counseling campaign was to mend people psychologically and emotionally.
Further the idea was to show people that there was life after the closure of BCL Mine. BOPA
