Wellness week for improved productivity - Mzwinila

Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila says wellness week and national fitness programme are some ways instituted by the ministry to improve productivity at work place.
Speaking during his ministry’s wellness week for Central District in Serowe, Mr Mzwinila said that it was imperative to note the connection between wellness and productivity which ensured some objectives of his ministry.
“That is, there is need for all of us to lead a healthier and happier life in order to be productive in the workplace,” said Mr Mzwinila, adding that those who partook in the endeavour were maintaining healthy lifestyles whilst eliminating risky behaviour.
He said that ensuring preventative care and fostering a healthier workplace would result in reduced costs associated unauthorised absenteeism from work, employee sick offs and time off inter alia.
The assistant minister challenged employees under his ministry to be agents of change in adopting behaviour that does not endanger their lives.
Mr Mzwinila also challenged Batswana to adopt healthier lifestyles than spending a lot of time and resources in willful activities.
The major goal of such activities, was to make work environment more supportive of positive health behaviours of employees, thereby reducing the development of chronic diseases amongst others.  ends
