Mohumagadi Mokgosi laid to rest

Mohumagadi Hadas Motlalepula Mokgosi who passed away  on November 2 at the age of 85 years was a woman of warm hands and warm heart.
Among those who could attest to her  warmness receptive gesture was founding President Sir Seretse Khama and Lady Ruth Khama together with their two eldest children, as they once stayed with her in Ramotswa.
The Khama family is just few of the hundreds of people who had turned the Mokgosi’s homestead to be their second home.
“At that time there were no lodges in Ramotswa, she housed many people into her home,” said Kgosi Mosadi during the funeral of her mother.
Mohumagadi Mokgosi was buried at the Lutheran cemetery in Ramotswa on November 12 after battling with a heart condition for some time.
During her farewell, various speakers talked about how the wife of the late Balete royal, Kgosi Mokgosi III had turned the royal family house into a somewhat guest house.
Apart from being receptive,  she was  knowledgeable about her own tribe linage and family linages of people she often engaged with.
Henceforth,  Mohumagadi Mokgosi who was commonly knows as “H” or Mma was the tribe’s backbone in unlocking complicated family linages as she seemed to know almost everyone in the village, according to Kgosi Mosadi.
A representative from the family, Ms Gorata Seboko said “H” was a hard worker who had passion for arable farming and loved cleanness.
She said their mother  has played an important role in upbringing of their children and grandchildren.
Another speaker, Dr Lesedinyane Odiseng of Bokamoso Private Hospital said out of her 25 years of experience, she has never seen a witty patients even up to her death.
Dr Odiseng said the deceased was most of the time on and off the hospital and said the doctors have done their part in the life of the deceased.
“As doctors, we only treat and only God heals,” added Dr Odiseng, who was the deceased's doctor for the past three years.
President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama sent his condolence message to the family.
The message reads: The deceased stood by her husband’s side when he was instrumental to the country’s independence when he was a member of the national legislative council.”
Second President Sir Ketumile Masire also sent his condolence to the family for their loss.
The deceased was born on June 1931 to her late parents, Mr Zerubabel and Mrs Aldophina Maswabi in Ramotswa and got married to Kgosi Mokgosi III in 1949.
The deceased leaves behind seven daughters as well as 22 grandchildren and 20 grand  grandchildren. ends
