Minister of Health and Wellness Ms Dorcas Makgato is attending a joint meeting of SADC health ministers and ministers responsible for HIV/AIDS in Mbabane, Swaziland which went underway on Friday (November 11).

According to a press release from the ministry, the annual meeting gathers all ministers of health in the SADC region to discuss key health issues that affect their respective countries.

It says at this year's meeting member states will discuss progress report on the implementation of the SADC protocol on health including Minimum Standards, Frameworks and Guidelines, Regional Policy on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for better and socio-economic development.

It furthers states the meeting will also discuss the status of nutrition in SADC region and implementation of SADC Pharmaceutical Programme.

Additionally, an update on the SADC Collaborative Medicines Registration Initiative and Regional Minimum Standards and brand for HIV and other health services along the Road Transport Corridors in the Southern African Development Community will also form part of the discussions.

The release also says SADC Malaria Day locally  will be commemorated in  Shakawe .

The minister is expected back home on Saturday (November 12) and will be accompanied by the chief health officer Mr Setshwano Mokgweetsinyana. ENDS
