Balete are mourning the death of their tribe's mother, Mohumagadi Motlalepula Mokgosi who passed on Wednesday (November 2).

The deceased who died of a heart related disease is the mother to the tribe's paramount chief, Kgosi Mosadi Seboko.

In an interview, Kgosi Mosadi said her mother has been suffering from heart related illness since 2001 and she has been taking medication until she passed on.

Nonetheless, the paramount chief acknowledged that old age also contributed to the deterioration of her mother's health. The deceased was born on June 1931 to her late parents Mr Zerubabel and Mrs Aldophina Maswabi in Ramotswa.

She got married to the late chief, Kgosi Mokgosi III who passed away in 1966 on the eve of the country's independence.

Kgosi Mosadi said that her grandparents were religious people who raised her late mother with religious principles. She explained that the deceased was a knowledgeable person, a woman who was receptive to new ideas which were helpful in building what was right and beneficial to the people.

This equipped her  for the role of a Mohumagadi, a tasked she carried out with distinction

“My mother related well with other people, with us, individuals , strangers , community at large and people from outside the country, she was known by people for her integrity,” explained Kgosi Mosadi. Her persona fitted her role as mother, wife and friend who acted as counselor to her people.

The deceased was also involved in farming together with her late husband.

“The gap that she has left in our family will never be filled by anyone, we are all going to miss her, she was a friend to all of us,” highlighted Kgosi Mosadi. Kgosi Mosadi promised that she will put into practice all that her mother has taught her as her remembrance and appreciation.
