Mlesho hits jackpot with Hlomela

Lesego Lefatshe, commonly known as ‘Mlesho Kaione’ in the music industry, is heading to stardom with his hit song, Hlomela, which scooped the song of the year 2016 at BOMU Awards recently.
The hit song has become a household hit and carries with it, a modern unique and charismatic dance and has become familiar with all generations, young and old.
Hlomela album which was released towards the end of last year has eight tracks, amongst them; Motho wa Motho, and Tlisa kwano amongst others.
For 27-year-old Mlesho, the sky is the limit as he also scooped Best House Kwasa album 2016 during the local music awards.
Hlomela was competing with other hits such as Robete by Seretsi & The Natives as well as Black Mampatile of Amantle Brown.
Mlesho is expected to perform Hlomela at the awards in Lesotho.
In an interview recently, Mlesho said the song started hitting hard at the beginning of this year, adding that it went viral through social media and took most people by storm.
“This hilarious Hlomela dance started last year at Mochudi by me and a group of buddies with Mokgoro 05,” he said.
He said as way of showing appreciation towards Hlomela, many people hold on to various objects, such as poles, trees and walls to demonstrate the dance moves.
Upon realising the creativity and uniqueness in the dance, Mlesho decided to turn it into a fully-fledged single debut.
The hit song cuts across all ages and it enjoys air play in most radio stations and has been viewed by more than 32 000 on YouTube.
“My first album dubbed O tshwere gotlhe, which was released in 2010, also did well in the market.
It was followed by Amboya released in 2012, which was also popular with fans.
“I would like to commend my fans and Batswana at large for supporting my music and rallying behind me.
I also promise to bring nothing but the best,” he said. ENDS
