Mzwinila explains independence expenditure

The Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila says P113 437 284.89 was spent on golden jubilee independence-related activities.

He said P59 217 629.41 was paid to different companies and suppliers for goods and services, adding that cost overruns stood at P13 437 284.89, mainly due to activities that emerged during execution of the plan and these included the following:

Mr Muzwinila said this when answering a question asked by the Member of Parliament for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse, who wanted to know how much in pula terms was actually spent on independence related celebrations. 

Mr Keorapetse also wanted to know how much was paid to which company or supplier of goods or services and if there were cost or budget overruns or underruns. ENDS
