Matsieng footprint to be refurbished under ESP

Kgatleng District Council chairperson, Mr Mpho Morolong, has announced the face-lifting of Matsieng footprint through the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) in Rasesa.

Speaking during a kgotla meeting in Rasesa on Monday (November 7), Mr Morolong said P660 000 had been earmarked for the project, which would include fencing and building of a shop.

He said the gesture would also award employment to the youth hired to work in erection of the fence and construction of the shop.

Mr Morolong hoped that residents engaged will be involved in the entire ESP project especially the shop which he said will be selling cultural artifacts relevant to the monument and the service could be provided by residents.

He said the motive of the refurbishment of the footprint is primarily aimed at attracting tourists and urged residents to embrace government efforts in developing their village.

Meanwhile the council chair also said there will be construction of internal roads which he said will be paved in the period of five years. He said 1 130 meters of internal roads will be paved with 230 meters paving project ongoing. He said for the year 2017/18 another 500 metres will be paved and 400 meters in 2019/2020.

Moreover Mr Morolong made public that Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital will be moved to Rasesa as it is currently has no expansion space at its current location. He said the construction of the hospital will cost about P250 million and include 250 beds for patients and 200 staff houses.

He said the hospital will take the look of Mahalapye Hospital and is currently on its design stage and covers 13.2 hectares and 7.2 hectares for staff houses.

Mr Morolong also addressed environmental hygiene which he encouraged residents to adhere to and buy litter bins for proficient disposal of waste. He said it is important that each home stead owns one.

He said Rasesa stood at position six out of eight villages in environmental cleanliness competition and emphasised that residents should participate and improve at keeping their village clean.

Residents commended the council chairman for coming to their village to exchange ideas.

Mr Keaboka Buisanyang decried lack of transport to Kgope and asked Kgatleng Council to assist them as they have to travel via Gaborone while there is a shortest route which could be used.

He also complained of water shortage in the village which he said could lasts two to three days per week adding further that thieves steal water meters. ENDS
