Sweet XI take Rollers to court
08 Nov 2016
Kweneng division one club, Sweet Big XI, will drag Township Rollers to court over share of proceeds from Lebogang Ditsele’s transfer to Highlands Park in South Africa.
Sweet Big XI’s chairman, Duna Sebego, confirmed that the case would be registered at Lobatse High Court on Thursday (November 10).
Ditsele was recruited from the Mmopane lower division club by former Rollers managing director, Somerset Gobuiwang, few years ago but struggled to crack it at the Gaborone West giants.
He was loaned out to Jwaneng Galaxy, Letlapeng and Gilport Lions to gain game time and experience. National team coach, Peter Butler, saw potential in the youngster and roped him into the Zebras setup while playing for Letlapeng and then Lions.
Tolly would go on to catch the eye with his performances as the Zebras reached the COSAFA senior championships final in Namibia in June and was bought by South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Highlands Park.
Sweet Big XI argued that they entered into agreement with Township Rollers in 2013 in which Rollers were to pay a transfer fee of P6 000 for Ditsele.
The club said the agreement also stated that Sweet Big X1 would get 50 per-cent of the transfer fee received by Rollers if Ditsele were to move on to another club, locally or internationally.
With Ditsele having been sold to Highlands Park, Sweet Big XI want Rollers to abide by the agreement and pay them 50 per-cent of the amount received from Highlands Park.
They also want Rollers to disclose the total amount of money they received from Highlands Park.
Township Rollers secretary general, Khumo Masonya, said the club was aware that Sweet Big X1 was taking the matter to High Court.
“In fact we have already responded and therefore we are just waiting for the case to be registered at the High Court, then we can take it from there,” Masonya said. ENDS
