MVA to consider Matsitama School request

07 Nov 2016

Motor Vehicle Accident fund (MVA) Francistown branch manager, Mr Ketumetse Nkala says the fund will in future consider the adoption request  by Matsitama Primary School.

Speaking at the launch of Information and Communication Technology and prize giving ceremony recently in Matsitama, Mr Nkala said they were determined to drive the government’s Adopt-A-School initiative.

He highlighted that they were still in contract with some schools they have adopted and would consider other applications including the Matsitama one at the end of the contracts.

He said the government needs to be commended for ensuring that every Motswana gets basic education at no cost, adding that it was important for Batswana to appreciate the efforts by the government and in turn see to it that their children make use of such opportunities.

Mr Nkala said parents should understand that they have a responsibility on their children’s education. He said it was not the government’s mandate as well as responsibility to see to it that students attend school without fail.

“Let us understand that the journey to success begins with getting educated,” he said.

He urged parents to take their role seriously and put in place proper measures that their children have to follow to get educated.

He commended the parents of Matsitama for being involved in their children’s education, adding that those who were ahead should encourage those lacking behind to move in the same direction. In addition, he praised the school for being one of the performing schools in the region despite being classified under areas far away from services.

Briefing about the school, the school head, Ms Makhumo Munyamane said the school was opened in 1966 and was celebrating  50 years. She highlighted that the school has an enrolment of 407 pupils with 16 teachers including her.

Meanwhile, MVA donated a computer and printer worth P10 000 as well as  P5 000 cash. ENDS
