Entertainment strategy to poverty alleviation

A Maun based, Mmadinare born artiste, poetand choreographer; Lebonyeng Modise (26) popularly known as Shubie in the music industry, has encouraged youth to explore and invest in their artistic talents as entertainment can help alleviate poverty and improve lives.
In an interview, Shubie elucidated that entertainment is an original piece of work which keeps growing daily and in demand hence the industry can be used to reduce unemployment among the youth if appropriately harnessed.
Also, Shubie described musical entertainment as a core source of fun and leisure as it can soothe and calm broken hearted and sorrow emotions, thus improve mental and physical well-being through routine dances and aerobics.
The house kwasa artiste also said artistic excellence is not all about music but a way of communication and an artiste is a communicator so there are many ways that one can use to communicate to certain group of people and pass a vital life uplifting message to them.
She said this can help boost the economy of Botswana as the nation will be informed and equipped with knowledge, through music.
Shubie indicated that her dream is to establish a visual and performing arts institution to train young people to fine tune their talents and up-skills them with artistic knowledge.
Shubie who became famous after her first album entitledManyukumisa-Thekeng has now dropped another brand new hit album called Motsepo and says both albums are sung in different local ethnic languages such as Hambukushu, Herero and Shona.
She said she was inspired by diverse multi-cultural language found in the Ngamiland District hence she choose to give her fans a bit of new musical diversity.
Shubie indicated that she has shared stage with many big artistes like Franco and afro musica , Culture Spears, Slyzer,Tumza and performed in big events like Annual 2015 Maun International Music Festival, beMOBILE road show, Lahisa games, blood donation shows, Francistown BOT50 celebration and culture day.
She further said she recorded her new six track album, Motsepo at Bon Fella Records in Francistown and the album would be released soon. ENDS
