Hospital has backup
06 Nov 2016
The Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele, has told Parliament that Nyangabgwe hospital in Francistown has a water reserve tank that supplies the hospital whenever there are interruptions.
Mr Makgalemele, who was answering a question in Parliament, said in the event water levels in the reserve tank were low, a request would be made to Water Utilities Corporation to fill the tank.
He explained that the hospital experienced two pipe bursts during in July and September. He said the bursts were a result of ongoing road construction in Francistown.
Mr Makgalemele further stated that supply from the reserve tank was affected by low pressure, hence no water reached the hospital.
However, he said the problem was resolved in September when second burst pipe was replaced. He further stated that they however never experienced any pipe burst in the previous year 2015.
The assistant minister was responding to a question asked by Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi who had asked why Nyangabgwe hospital did not have a water back up plan. ENDS
