Robby G to release The Autograph

Robert Koma, known in the music industry as Robby G, is set to release a 10-track ragga dancehall album titled The Autograph.

The 29-year-old ragga artist from Francistown said in an interview that his album would be an early Christmas present for his fans.

“It will be the best dancehall collection to have come out of Botswana thus far,” he said, adding that the album would feature signatures of all people who supported his music career, hence the title The Autograph.

A sample of some of the album’s tunes revealed a real jaggy and commercial dancehall; the Vybz Kartel type that will have dancehall fanatics dancing to all the tracks.

One of the catchiest songs in the album is Julian and Roses, which Robby G stated was about his personal life encounters.

The ragamuffin said the song talked about a situation where a woman dumped her partner during hard times, only to try back love when the partner’s life seemed to blossom; hence the title: Julian and Roses.

The song, Look so far away, was about distance relationships, complications of being in such kind of a relationship and having the courage to love one’s partner despite the distance.

Other songs featured include: Buffalo soldier featuring Rashid, Pressure, Uri, No girlfriend, Miss Jessica, Ego featuring Jay Black, Coconut gal and Ice block.

“The album was recorded at ISL Records, Sonic Media and CS Records. It features versatile and heavy weight artists such as the underground legendary rapper Bicko-G, Focks, Cozy and international collaboration with Mr G from Zimbabwe, Kiba from Tanzania and Marvin Matic from Kenya,” he noted.

Robby G said the album was simply dancehall for the soul and had songs that one could listen to with their parents.

He said the tracks were mostly sung using the native Jamaican Patois language, English and Setswana to appeal to a variety of people.

His love for Jamaican type of music led to him opting to pursue dancehall music despite initially being so much into rap music.

After falling in love with dancehall, he changed his mind about hip-hop to pursue dancehall and he has not regretted it one bit.

“The album would be launched soon at Equatoria Pub and the Water Hole bar.

One venue will host the actual album launch and the other one the first video shoot for the album on the same day,” he promised. ENDS
