Director of Metse (PTY) Ltd Mr Benjamin Raletsatsi  says lack of housing and delay in delivering homes in the current situation is something that his company is aware of hence they aim to be an innovative housing solution provider.

Speaking during  a handing over ceremony of a house towards the Office of the President’s Housing Appeal at Old Naledi he said the building technology that Metse employs allows for quality low cost housing to be put up and be ready for occupation in less than 10 days.

He said the ability to provide a home to a family within a week and a half means that Metse could be an agent of change for hundreds of families within budget and time targets.

“Housing is a fundamental human need. Decent and affordable housing should be a basic right for everybody in this country,” he said.

Mr Raletsatsi noted that Metse has gone out of its  way to ensure that they innovate and collaborate with housing and industry players to bring affordable comfortable yet stylish homes to all Batswana.

He said affordable housing is deemed affordable to those with a median household incomes as rated by country or recognized Housing Affordability Index.

He said at Metse they believe that a safe, decent and affordable home is a fundamental to a family forging a path out of poverty.

In a Metse house, he said families find a better health, more financial freedom, independence, stability and security that many families cannot achieve without a helping hand adding that the need for affordable housing is immense and the lasting impact it can have on home owners and their families is undeniable.

He said three elements of critical value, being acceptability, cost and speed of delivery are considered in their building technology adding that the technology provides the customer a 20 percent cost saving and a further saving on the time it takes to construct the house.

Mr Raletsatsi said the backlog in the delivery of houses in Botswana remain a problem and through their technology Metse can deliver a house every eight days, hence shortening the amount of time the tenant have to wait before taking occupancy of the house.

Representative from the President Housing Appeal Mr Paul Paledi said they have at present date received about 648 houses from donors around the country.

Mr Paledi said this marks a history as what they are doing at the Presidential Housing Appeal is a collaborative effort from the public and his office.

He said  Mr Raletsatsi is one of the youths around the country who needs some accolades as he took heeds to the national appeal by the state President to donate a house to the less privileged members of the community.

The recipient of the house, Ms Mmabasadi Rabanoko said she appreciate the house being given to her and promised the donors that she will take care of the house and make good use of it.

Thanking all, Naledi South Councilor Mr Mathata Mosekwa said that donors, Metse (PTY) Ltd are friends of Old Naledi Ward as they have been participating in Bona Naledi Society and has contributed a lot in offering Old Naledi Youth some part-time employment. ENDS
