No ICU for Bamalete Hospital
01 Nov 2016
The Ministry of Health and Wellness has no plans to set up an Intensive Care Unit at Bamalete Lutheran Hospital.
Speaking in Parliament, Assistant Minister, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said all patients who need intensive care treatment are referred to Princess Marina Hospital and selected district hospitals.
He noted that the health facility was a missionary hospital whose administration is governed by a hospital management board.
“Government provides funding since the 1970’s when it entered into a Grant Agreement for recurrent expenditure including procurement of medical equipment,” he said.
Ramotswa MP, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked when the minister would consider setting up an ICU at Bamalete Lutheran Hospital as it had proven to be the best hospital in the country despite lack of resources. ENDS
