Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members have been urged to intensive the recruitment drive from opposition parties.

The Vice President and also party chairperson Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi said over the weekend in Xhumo during Boteti West MP Slumber Tsogwane's victory party celebration.

Mr Masisi called on Boteti West party members to teach opposition members policies and programmes spearheaded by the BDP so that they are converted.

He also implored party members to take party policies, programmes and its brand to the grassroots while urging party elders to also sell and promote the BDP brand to youth from opposition parties.

The Vice President advised party members in Boteti to support each other, noting that those interested in contesting for elections should rate themselves.

Mr Masisi further noted that BDP has already started campaigns for 2019 urging party members to join the campaigns and promised the people of Boteti that as the party chairperson he would ensure that Boteti West constituency is retained.

Boteti West party chairperson Mr Kgosietsile Makula said Xhumo/Mmadikola ward was won by the opposition due to lack of commitment from party members, noting that there was need for members to intensify campaigns.

For his part the Member of Parliament for Okavango Mr Bagalatia Arone informed Boteti West party members that time for change has come.

He urged members of Botswana Congress Party who were present not to waste time in the opposition instead should join the BDP.

Mr Arone said BDP has noble programmes which Batswana should be thankful, citing free education.

Mr Tsogwane, for his part commended the people of Boteti for committing themselves to one party since independence.

He said though developments in Boteti were not of such magnitude he said they should be appreciative of the little they have, since Botswana was built from nothing.

Mr Tsogwane introduced the special elected Member of Parliament recently appointed Ms Bogolo Kenewendo, who is also from Boteti. ENDS
