Tjilenje Tje Ngwao destined for prosperity

Tjilenje Tje Ngwao is one of the traditional dance groups determined to leave no stone unturned in terms of striving for success.

Their achievements and progress is a testimony that they continue to enjoy their spectacular rise from humble beginnings.

Though they encountered hiccups here and there, that never deterred their ambition to turn around the little they have so as to make themselves a reputable name in the industry and a force to reckon with.

This is one of the groups that have been recognised by government for their contributions towards promoting and preserving the culture of Batswana.

Tjilenje Tje Ngwao has toured several African countries for cultural exchange and some parts of this country on the same mission.

Moreover, the group is yet to embark on another cultural exchange trip to England slated for early next year through the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) invitation.

The list is endless, there is also an annual event hosted by the group dubbed Nyangabwe Hill Cultural event.

The director of Tjilenje Ngwao traditional dance group, Ngwisiwa Ntogwa said the group was formed in 2007 with mere intentions to keep some of the youth engaged and have something to look up to.

“When I started this group, I had no idea it was the time for greater opportunities to unfold, we were basically into acapella performance, especially on social gatherings for profit making. But today here we are with a different story, we have gone beyond our intentions and have achieved much,” he said.

Ntogwa said another recent milestone of the group is that they have launched their debut contemporary album and they have also been adopted by Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE).

Early this month, they finally released their six tracks debut album titled Bana ba ngwenu and it was officially launched on Friday at FCTVE. ENDS
