 A cast from Muvhango, a South African TV series, recently joined hands  with Together We Can Trust by hosting a charitable gala dinner to raise funds to build a house for the needy.

Speaking on behalf of the Muvhango team, Gabriel Temudzani, who plays Vafhuwi Azwindini, implored the attendants to join hands and help Together We Can Trust  in fulfilling its mandate to assist the needy members of the society.

“When the children of the lord join hands the impact is phenomenal. This is not a one day show. It is a collective effort of men and women who are saying, ‘the little I have, I will share,’” he said.

Mr Temudzani reminded the diners that one of the African values was the spirit of ubuntu (Botho), which he said was not a priority to other races.

“Time has come for us Africans to reclaim our identity.  Let us talk to the inner us. Our culture seems to have divorced us, let us interrogate ourselves and do something immediately to be action agents,” he said.

For his part, the secretary of Together We Can Charity Trust, Mr Kabelo Nkwane, said the aim of the movement, which operated internationally, was to restore dysfunctional families.

He said the movement worked closely with the Department of Social and Community Development (S&CD) under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

He said the intension was to also assist some families in South Africa and Malawi, adding that they were also interested in taking part in various other projects outside their core mandate such as helping those suffering from kidney diseases.

Other Muvhango cast members present included Sydney Ramakuwela, who plays Mulalo, Liteboho Molise, who plays Tebogo and Maumela Mahuwa, who plays Susan.

Performers at the dinner included Lizibo, Gong Master, Tshepo Lesole, Dr Vom and South African artistes such as Omega of Former Spirit of Praise, Ndibo, former Joyous Celebrations member, and Mmatema, 2015 Idols winner. ENDS
