Botswana has been hailed for the achievements it made over the years.
“I am not going to recall what you have done so far, but Botswana is a unique country with a clear history, which is not stained by blood, war and conflict,” ambassador of France, Ms Anne De la Blache had this to say when speaking at a farewell ceremony held in her honour in Gaborone recently.
Ms De la Blache said as a friend to Botswana, she was proud to have had a wonderful partnership with Botswana during her tenure.
“Botswana can have it all. It can still do better. It is a true beacon in Africa,” she said.
Ms De la Blache also expressed gratitude towards her team, which she said had been hard-working and supportive throughout her mission.
For her part, Minister of Basic Education, Dr Unity Dow described Ms De la Blache as an easy going person, who could create a personal and at the same time professional and business relationship with the people she was working with.
“We spoke about our children because we worry about their education and that would automatically lead to discussion about the education system in Botswana and France as well as how we can share and learn from each other,” she said.
Dr Dow thanked Ms De la Blache for opening her house and her heart, opining that what Ms De la Blache shared with other people was a the testimony that she was a true diplomat.
She said the cabinet ministers would especially miss the greet session, which provided the constant probings of what more could be done between France and Botswana. ENDS
