Tutume schools cluster of information and communication technology (ICT) have jointly contributed funds to connect water to a needy family of Ms Boitshepo Perera.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony in Dukwi recently, Kgosi Bohedile Twaelang of Dukwi said the donation would not only change the lives of a needy family but the community at large.

He added that it formed part of the developments for the village hence those that made the difference had to be appreciated for the work they did.

He therefore called upon the people of Dukwi to also introspect and help bring change with lasting impact.

Kgosi Twaelang pointed out that often young people were of the view that change had to be brought by elders or someone well off but that should not be the case because if they group themselves together and make contributions and seek assistance they could do something significant to the community.

“Let us not look down upon ourselves but think out of the box and make something jointly,” he said.

He therefore pledged his support on everything which would done to help change the lives of Dukwi people.

Briefing on their project, the chairperson for the cluster which brought together all junior secondary schools in Tutume sub district and Nata senior school, Mr Wilfred Samunzala said they had wanted to do something big in line of building a house but however due to lack of funds they opted to settle for connecting water to the needy family of Perera.

To raise the funds, Mr Samunzala said each one of them as ICT computer programmers in their respective schools contributed P200 to fund raise for the water connection fee of P2900 and groceries worth over P400.

To get to help the 59-year-old woman also living with disability, he said they were assisted by the area social worker, adding that they would in future work to fulfill their dreams of sheltering one of the needy families in the community.

Appreciating the gesture, area councillor Thatayaone Kehitile said the government including the local authority being the sub district council faced financial constraints and to date the queue for needy people who have to be assisted was endless.
And with such assistance from other stakeholders it would help government, and he also appealed to the community to take note of such assistance and consider making efforts to others.ENDS
