The Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) advises the public that the prevailing weather conditions of extremely hot temperatures over most parts of the country are expected to continue from October 28 until October 31.

A press release from DMS states that extremely hot temperatures are expected over the entire country and are expected to reach highs of between 38 and 41 degrees Celsius.

The extremely hot temperature conditions are due to the persistence of hot northerly continental air mass or wind flow. The department therefore, advises members of the public in the affected areas to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from these adverse weather conditions.

The measures may include among others to drink more water regardless of one's activity level, to avoid prolonged stay under the sun, if at all possible stay under the shade and to protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat or umbrella.

The release states that the department will keep monitoring the conditions and will update the public accordingly. ENDS
