26 Oct 2016
Some 13 students graduated from the Basic Information Communication Technology Training programme hosted by the Department of National Library Services in Nata recently.
Nata West Councillor, Mr Mbanga Mbanga encouraged the graduates to use their skills and knowledge gained during the basic ICT programme to improve their lives.
Councillor Mbanga pointed out that people should not be afraid to put their skills and knowledge into practice after completing their studies.
He therefore urged the community of Nata and surrounding areas to take advantage of such free courses.
Furthermore, he noted that he was overwhelmed and appreciated the work done by the librarians’ in serving the community and offering them programmes which aimed at changing their livelihoods.
“A positive mind-set lead to good results,” he observed. He therefore called upon the parents to encourage their young children to make use of the library adding that government brought such services closer to the people to improve literacy and livelihoods, hence the need to make use of such services.
Meanwhile Kgosi Rebagamang Rancholo of Nata advised graduates to use their completed studies as reference when seeking employment.
The youth programme officer, Ms Sethunya Motswaiso urged the community at large to make use of the library including the elderly to engage in ICT course.
The course was held under the theme “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. ENDS
