26 Oct 2016

The tenure of France envoy, Ms Anne De La Blache, has come to an end.

Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi described Ms De La Blache as a sound diplomat who helped to bring the two countries closer during her tenure.

“I am pleased to note that during your stay in Botswana, there has been an increased collaboration between our two countries in critical sectors, which include among others, education, tourism, capacity-building in mining, police and military cooperation, the fight against HIV and AIDS, agriculture as well as cultural cooperation,” Dr Venson-Moitoi said during a farewell luncheon for the envoy in Gaborone on Monday.

Furthermore, she said it was under the tenure of Ms De La Blache that two Batswana young women were trained to design jewelry made of Botswana diamonds.

Ms De La Blache described her work here as a wonderful experience, explaining that the bilateral agreements in different areas between the two countries had borne fruit.

The envoy said successes had been experienced in areas such as education, anti-poaching and defence training. ENDS
