Club mentors young people

One-two adventure club in association with the Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources took part in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR)

Community Service Project at the Matswere Old Camp recently as part of their social responsibility and giving the Boteti youth exposure to tourism.

Speaking to BOPA, One-two Adventure club manager Mr Badisa Ntlape said the main aim of the project was to take out the youth who usually participated in the donkey and horse races organised by their club to a tourism destination near them which is only 40 km from their village but have little knowledge about it.

Furthermore, he said they as the club approached the Wildlife and National Resources Department and offered to help them with their community projects taking with them 30 young people of whom 25 were out-of-school youths and five Rakops JSS students.

Mr Ntlape said on Saturday they helped with the erecting of concrete sign boards which act as map directory and tour guides for the tourists who visit CKGR followed by game drive in the park and life skills coaching by members of the scout movement.

He added that on Sunday they took part in the conservation project by cleaning a water hole before going back to Rakops.

Lastly, One Two adventure club manager expressed his sincere gratitude to the Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources for giving them and the youth an opportunity to be part of the Community Service Project and taking part in educating the youth about tourism and life skills.

One Two Adventure Club is a non-profit organisation made up of youths from Rakops village whose aim is to promote leisure and recreational activities for the youth in adventure sport, to engage in wildlife and environmental conservation activities as well as making Rakops village a renowned tourist destination.
