Mmakgodumo Cultural Festival returns

 Mmakgodumo Cultural Festival is back with more interesting activities.
The festival, billed for October 29, is themed: Unity Through Culture.
 Activities kickoff on Friday with a gala dinner at Kanye Educational Centre.
The main event would be held at Mmakgodumo Dam from October 29.
Speaking at a press briefing in Gaborone on October 20, the committee chairperson, Tsietsi Kebualemang esaid the event enabled Bangwaketse, like other tribes, to celebrate their culture and history.
Kebualemang said the event aimed to promote and revive the culture of Bangwaketse and would feature cultural activities such as poetry, traditional dance, traditional food and attire display as well as showcasing of dikgafela.
He said the event would also include a football match between two regiments: Maabakgomo and Matlotlakgosi.
Another fixture would be between dikgosi and councillors.
Publicity and marketing manager, Thapelo Searobi highlighted that the event had shown growth over the years, owing to increased numbers of audience as well as activities.
Searobi said the event would be filled with edutainment activities whereby there would be display of devices that were used back in the days during ploughing, to educate young people about those as well as Setswana games such as koi and diketo.
The annual festival is sponsored by Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) and Sedibeng Lodge, among others. ENDS
