Dow urges graduates to be innovative

Graduates have been advised to use the skills they have acquired from the Limkokwing University to create employment.
Speaking at the university’s graduation ceremony in Gaborone on October 18, the Minister of Basic Education, Dr Unity Dow said Limkokwing University was an institution of creative technology so graduates should apply their minds on how to find a job.
 “Life is tough, if you leave here you should look for a job and once you find it, you should keep it and progress into it,” she advised.
Dr Dow thanked the third president, Dr Festus Mogae and the founder of Limkokwing University, Professor Tan Sri Dato Paduka Dr Lim Kok  Wing for building a strong relationship between the university and the government of Botswana.
This year, she said, Limkokwing made history by releasing the first cohort of performing arts certificate programme.
She added that nine out of the 1 200 graduates were from the special unit and 100 were students from the performing arts certificate programme under the Target 20 000 initiative by the education ministry.
For her part, Ms Charity Keobokile, founder of The Student Advertiser and Student Care Consultancy said the Limkokwing University through the creative and innovative mind empowered her to think beyond formal employment and to become an employer.
“Let us see the world through the eyes of our founder, Professor Tan Sri Dato Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing and the fore fathers of this great country. We are their pride, we are unique and we are the future,” Ms Keobokile said.
Ms Keobokile also said her company specialised in student discipline mechanisms, parenting skills, tertiary students accommodation relief programme, expert advisory on educational matters and tertiary students projects relief programmes.
 She encouraged the graduates to use each other’s skills and talent to form companies and businesses that would drive the economy. ENDS
