Mmolotsi cautions residents against criminals
18 Oct 2016
Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, has cautioned residents of Block 9 location against criminals who claimed to be state agents.
Addressing a kgotla meeting in Francistown on October 17, Mr Mmolotsi raised a concern about residents who sold their plots to criminals.
He said these criminals called themselves brief case state agents in order to fraud the less-privileged people in the area.
The Francistown South legislator also urged those willing to sell their plots to seek advice from relevant authorities to avoid being cheated.
He encouraged residents to keep their own residential certificates as a proof of evidence noting that his office had received more than 10 cases regarding the issue.
Mr Mmolotsi urged the residents to secure their plots and save them for their children.
Mr Mmolotsi said Batswana should take into consideration the amended land policy before they could sell their plots because they would not get any plot allocated to them after selling.
Tshwaragano Village Development Committee chairperson, Ms Emma Motumba said their streets had no lights and that poverty eradication beneficiaries who went for training were still on the waiting list.
Ms Motumba said the road leading to Botho University had turned into a hiding place for criminals and requested that the road be de-bushed.
Ms Bapindi Bakani complained about congestion at Block 9 clinic as well as lack of Tsabana ration.
She requested government to consider increasing the old age pension adding that it was inadequate.
In response, the district deputy commissioner Mr Boyce Mangole said people who had been awarded the tender to supply Tsabana were failing to deliver on time.
However, he promised to take up the issue with the company.
Mr Mangole said some of the issues raised would be taken to the relevant offices for action. ENDS
