Boitumelo Seboko Designer with a perfect hand

An ambitious creative fashion designer Boitumelo Seboko has proved hard work and dedication pays.
After working from home for a while, the designer who comes from royal home decided to take the hike to share her creative style with the nation, making house hold name instantly.
After being assisted by Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture through youth grant Seboko registered Bokay Investments nine years ago she which has now blossoms and got her phone ringing nonstop.
Speaking during an interview at her workshop recently, Seboko studied her fashion tactics at London International School of Fashion in Johannesburg, South Africa after her aunt Kgosi Mosadi Seboko convinced her to do it, after realising the magic her hands worked as a young girl.
Tracing back her steps in her fashion journey, the designer has earned herself couple of awards that really symbolises her hardworking points.
On 2014, she won the Presidential award for best designer which gave her opportunity to showcase her designs at African Fashion Week which was hosted at Toronto, Canada.
After winning best fashion designer competition at a women expo, SADC sent her to Angola to present her work at a fashion show in 2011
As that was not enough, she has won four BOCCIM awards for fashion shows as the best designer.
She countinued to excel in her career by winning herself an award for Miss Africa Botswana fashion show in 2015.
“The creativity and quality of my work earned me my rewards,” she explained.
Seboko has also participated in Fashion without boarders Botswana shows, Miss interbank’s fashion shows and Somarela Tikologo fashion shows where recycled materials are used to be unique and creative.
Her work entails designing clothes using any type of material and her work fit perfectly with every occasion, she designs wedding gowns, African attire clothes, school and work uniforms just to mention the few.
Seboko is inspired by her mother and aunt, Kgosi Mosadi.
“I take after my aunt, she was a designer before she became chief. I respect and admire them both, the principles they installed in me, to be dedicated and passionate about I do,” she said.
The fashion designer who has clients across the country says she is always honored when people of high status, who are famous in the country, wore her designs because it is an act of her hard work.
Despite her achievements Seboko still faces challenges that she works hard to rise above.
She explains that she is trying to acquire land because she is operating from LEA buildings and have been given two years lease.
She explained that fashion industry is seasonal, so it is difficult to earn enough money during winter because things slow down in terms of clients.
Seboko who buys her material from Johannesburg says creativity is her trade mark and innovative elegant designs that perfectly fit her clients give her strength to survive the competitive industry.
When asked about definition of success, she has no problem picking David Tlale, “his work wows me, being able to stand and do what you love without being pushed, not letting circumstances pull you down,” she narrates.
Her vision is to continuing working hard and to be recognised internationally for her work. ENDS
