Seed traders must register

The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security advises all Seed Traders to register with the department of agricultural research before engaging in seed trade.
The registration according to a press release from the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security is in accordance with the Seed Certification Act of 1976.
“Therefore, no person shall sell seed to the public if not registered with department of agricultural research,” adds the release.
Applications forms for registration, as per the release can be obtained from Seed Multiplication Unit, Department of Agricultural Research, in Sebele during working hours.
In addition, the release says any further enquiries can be made by calling the following numbers at the Seed Multiplication Unit: 3668100/ 3668193. ENDS
