Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) through the adopt a school initiative has hosted D’kar Primary School standard seven pupils on a three-day tour around Gaborone.
Addressing students on October 14, human resource services senior manager, Mr Mulungisi Jakalas said the purpose of the tour was to ensure that students had opportunity to tour and learn about DTCB’s operations as well as see and learn about key areas in Gaborone such as the National Assembly, Ntlo ya Dikgosi, the National Museum, the Three Chief Monument, Air Botswana, among others.
Mr Jakalas encouraged students to study hard in order to achieve and realise their dreams.
“Education is key. You can achieve all that you want through education, study hard to be who you want to be,” he said.
He also advised them to make good friends in and outside school, saying “choose friends wisely, look for friends who can build you, people you can learn a thing from.”
For his part, senior diamond sorter, Mr Baboletse Molefhe encouraged pupils to stay away from drugs, alcohol and crime.
“These things will destroy your future, flee from them, get involved in extracurricular activities which will keep you focused on your studies,” Mr Molefhe said.
Meanwhile, the relationship between DTCB and D’kar Primary School started at the beginning of the year with a sponsorship deal amounting to P2 million.
The sponsorship entails, among others, provision of meals through the opening of a bakery, a horticultural project, provision of school uniform, sporting kits and related equipment. ENDS
