Genius Senyatso will tomorrow (October 18) release his much awaited Afro jazz album titled Tlhako ya Morago.
Genius is the son of the departed Afro jazz musician Duncan Senyatso.
The 10 track album was recorded live and mixed and mastered by Bullet Music Productions (BMP) in Gaborone.
Speaking in an interview recently, Genious, 36, explained that he has worked with the likes of Nono, Trinity, Kopano Mantswe and Esther in his album.
Raised by a music legend, this inspired him to follow his father’s footsteps. He made sure to be at top of his game hence he took his time to learn from achievers.
Senyatso was first introduced to the music scene in 2001 by his late father during the launch of Bhudaza’s Momabefane album.
His experience opened many doors for him to learn and to equip himself musically because it is what he is fond of.
Wearing a printed white t-shirt, beads round his neck and dark grey formal pants, he smiled as he narrated a list of big names he has once toured with.
“It has been a lifetime experience for me to have toured with South African jazz artist Jonny Mokhali, Zimbabwean legend Bhudaza and Steve Kekana,” he said.
The father of two children, who hails from Kalamare, has also been lucky to have shared the stage with local jazz artiste such as Thabang, Shanty Lo and Lister Boleseng just to mention a few.
Back in 2010, Senyatso was over the moon to have shared the stage with American hip hop artiste Eve at Orange Urban Legends show in Gaborone.
“I have also shared the stage with jazz artiste Sadawa Wadanabe from Japan at the main mall piazza who came to the country through the President’s invitation,” said Senyatso.
Senyatso’s album which was recorded at Octave Records Studios was expensive to finance because it was recorded live.
He said he has worked with former Kgwanyape member, Simon Jacquet on his upcoming album and hopes the album will be released in Scotland early next year.
Senyatso said it was his vision to work hard before releasing his first album.
He remarked that his album was inspired by the natural ambience of the country. ENDS
