Natural resources essential to dev - Tsogwane

Boteti West MP, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, has urged residents of Mokobaxane to utilise natural resources to develop their livelihoods and the community they live in.
Mr Tsogwane said this on Monday (October 10) during a kgotla meeting.
He urged villagers to devise strategies that could be employed to use natural resources in their area f.
He said Sowa Town had developed methods to process and package abundant salt in their area, challenging them to emulate that.
Mr Tsogwane, also Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said natural resources benefitted all members of society equally, noting that Batswana were a peaceful nation that should not fight over natural resources.
Through such, he said, members of community would be enabled to undertake a number of projects not financed by government, citing bus waiting rooms as one such project.
He informed the residents that Economic Stimulus Programme projects would cover backlog development projects like; toilets in schools and establishments of Kgotla offices.
The issue of temporary teachers in junior schools, he said would be looked into, to see if there were no vacant posts.
He further enlightened the residents on vision 2036 pillars, saying they should familiarise themselves with it and implement it. The first pillar, he said was sustainable economic development, human and social development, sustainable environment as much as governance, peace and security.
Mr Tsogwane was responding to a question asked by the Village Development Committee representative, Mr Sentebeng Batswana who had called for absorption of temporary teachers at Mopipi junior secondary school in to permanent posts.
He also complained that village stand pipes were all dilapidated, saying people from the village were now sourcing water from Kgotla office standpipe.
Mr Batswana requested gravelling of Mokobaxane/Kedia and Xhumo road. In addition, he requested two LA2 houses for nurses and three LA2 houses for teachers. ENDS
