12 Oct 2016
Bobirwa Sub -district assistant council secretary Ms Leagile Senwamadi says the opening of the Gobojango community reading room should brand students into top achievers.
Officially opening the room, Ms Senwamadi implored residents to use the reading room for research and to educate themselves.
She also said children should be closely watched when they use the computers and the Internet so that they do not use it for offensive purposes.
The reading room which was initiated by an American Peace Corp, Tiphaine Monroe is expected to bring a reading culture to Gobojango residents.
It has computers, photocopying machine, scanner, educational DVD’s and different books that cater for all ages.
The reading room committee chairperson, Mr Masebe Masebe said the residents would have an opportunity to do photocopying and scanning services without going to distant places such as Bobonong.
However, he highlighted that those services would be offered at a minimum fee to ensure its success in the long run.
He said a qualified volunteer would run the reading room to oversee its operation.
He also said two Tirelo Sechaba participants would assist in its day to day running.
He said P100 000 was raised through sponsored walks, donations, raffle and donation sheets towards the reading room. He also said various departments including Bobonong Library helped in arranging and shelving of the books. ENDS
