Former food Resource Services (FRS) employee, Mr Simisani Boy who was left wheelchair-bound after a road accident received donations from former colleagues on Friday (October 7).

The wheelchair- bound, Mr Boy, who was a labourer at FRS Serowe depot, was involved in a car accident near Khama Rhino on February 14, 2012. Mr Boy and colleagues were on duty to distribute food commodities to Dimajwe when the truck they were travelling in experienced a tyre burst and he was relegated to a wheelchair.

The 39-year-old, father of three was later boarded through medical board on  March 31, 2016.

Through their wellness committee, his former colleagues installed a water tap at his undeveloped plot and donated food hampers. Speaking at handing over ceremony of such donations, Serowe Principal Magistrate, Mr Ishmael Molobe who also donated him P1 000 commended Serowe depot FRS employees for supporting their former colleague during tough times.

Mr Molobe said they are truly displaying the God‘s love and proves that his love even prevails in difficult time. Quoting from Johannes chapter 9, he said no one should consider that the accident occurred because someone had sinned, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

He said the incident happened to show the greatness of God.

Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) representative, Ms Thatayaone Letsamao said Mr Boy is their client since March 26, 2012. Ms Letsamao stated that they are paying medical expenses for him and compensating his loss of income or earnings.

She explained that they could not make housing modifications for Mr Boy as he is renting a house.

However, she promised that once Mr Boy owns a house, they would do housing modifications according to the doctors’ specifications. The councilor for Tidimalo ward, Mr Solomon Dikgang pledged to support Mr Boy including to make it a point that he has a shelter over his head.

For his part, Mr Boy expressed gratitude towards all the donations and the donors. ENDS
