Botswana Ryushinkan brings home medals

Botswana Ryushinkan team, which participated in the Ryushinkan Africa Championships in Bloemfontein, South Africa recently came back with four gold medals, two silver and seven bronze medals.
Speaking in an interview, the chief instructor of International Ryushinkan Karate Do Botswana, Sensei Isaiah Ramontshonyana said the team, which competed at the just ended tournament performed exceptionally well.
The chief instructor noted that Ryushinkan Botswana sent 17 participants and two officials.
He said the team showed much growth in the athletes that participated as they had improved more in both basic and techniques.
The male kata and kumite teams scooped gold and bronze medals respectively, while Thuso Supang got a bronze medal in the under 60kg kumite and male individual kata respectively.
Sensei Ramontshonyana said some of the team members who brought medals home, include Oteng Palai who got a bronze medal under the male 75kg category, while Katlego Keitirile got a silver medal under the male under 60kg category and a bronze medal in the male individual kata.
He further noted that the team had a chance to train with Ryushinkan Africa Master Panel where one of the team members, Onkabetse Seitlhamo was graded to first dan black belt (shodan) after training.
Sensei Ramontshonyana said the team trained well before the tournament in order to bring good results.
He noted that the team faced powerful teams and athletes from other African countries but excelled, thus showing their commitment to sport. ENDS
