Students to attend leadership conference
06 Oct 2016
About 300 students from different schools in Ngamiland are expected to attend an international leadership conference scheduled for Maun in October 14.
The annual international seminar conference would be hosted by the founder and managing director of Leadership Nurturing Company, Ms Hannah Lecha and her team.
It targeted community leaders, managers, business community, professionals, high achievers, students, individuals including aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs.
Experts, amongst them, Dr Max Nhlatho from Doctors Inn, First National Bank regional manager, Ms Kelebogile Disang, an entrepreneur, Ms Snow Mabuto of Purple Art Company and an ex-convict, Mr Metlha Maphanyane would facilitate at the seminar.
In an interview, Ms Lecha said she had decided to take on board a large number of students. She said for the past two years, only five students were invited hence the move to increase the number to make an impact and raise awareness.
She said she had realised that people did not take leadership development seriously since they believed it was for people in high positions. “I am very passionate to empower and develop children at an early age. I have decided to bring on board, Mr Maphanyane, he is part of my team and I assisted in his rehabilitation,” she added.
Mr Maphanyane who had been derailed for 30 years would motivate students and teach them that change was possible.
Ms Lecha said the event aimed to bring leadership to the people at an affordable price in their areas rather than going places to attend seminars. People underestimate the importance of leadership and the conference will encourage them to consider themselves as leaders first.
She believes that leadership starts by oneself before it could be extended to others noting that leadership is all about influence.
Ms Lecha said the conference is expected to equip attendants with new perspectives, practical tools and key takeaways that could be put into action. It will be held under the theme, “Self leadership” and in Francistown it will kick start on October 28, at the Civic Centre.
Live2lead is an exclusive simulcast event hosted by Mr John Maxwell Partners around the world. It is designed to offer community and area leaders the opportunity to watch, listen and learn from the world renown leaders at the comfort of their home town. Ends
