Khama joins in Lesotho celebrations

President Lt General Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama attended the Lesotho 50th-independence anniversary celebrations in Maseru on Tuesday.
The President was accompanied by minister of International Affairs and Cooperation Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development Mr Thapelo Olopeng and Gaborone City mayor Mr Kagiso Thutlwe.
Lesotho gained independence from Britain on October 4, 1966 and International Affairs minister Dr Venson-Moitoi said the government of Botswana found it necessary to join in the celebrations as the two countries have shared close relations.
She said Lesotho like Botswana started with little developments at independence. She said the country managed to achieve progress over the past 50 years though it has also experienced instability problems for a number of years.
Dr Venson-Moitoi stated that the leadership of Lesotho was looking to find solutions to their problems adding that the government of Botswana government will support them. ENDS
