03 Oct 2016

Mahalapye Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic has offered physio therapy sessions to the elderly.
In an interview, one of the physiotherapists at the clinic, Mr Pasmo Shambahweta said the free physio therapy sessions  took place from the September 1 to 30.
Mr Shambahweta said the beneficiaries of this programme were elders from the age of 65 and above from Mahalapye Sub-district.
He said the clinic wanted to give back to the community as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He noted that they wanted to acknowledge the senior citizens since they had contributed a lot to what the country had and also wanted to promote good health among the elderly.
Mr Shambahweta said most of their beneficiaries were referrals from Mahalapye District Hospital.
He said the elderly people played a vital role in society building and they needed to be appreciated.
He said the clinic wanted to continue with this initiative even after independence, where people with disabilities would be included.
He urged other medical practitioners to also extend a helping hand to both the elderly and people with disabilities for a healthier community.
One of the beneficiaries, Ms Kutlwelo Kedikilwe from Ratholo said the physiotherapy had been helpful.
Ms Kedikilwe noted that before the sessions, her body was painful, but now she felt light. ENDS
