Obama wishes Botswana well

The United States president Mr Barack Obama has sent a congratulatory message to Botswana on the occasion of the country’s 50th anniversary of independence tomorrow. A news release from American Embassy states that on behalf of the American people, President Obama congratulates the people of Botswana
“I deeply appreciate the strong partnership forged by our governments over many years of cooperation and mutual respect. Your leadership in wildlife protection and environmental conservation sets an example for the region and the world, and I’m so pleased my family was able to enjoy your country’s natural beauty during their 2011 visit,” the release states.
The release further states that the United States is delighted to celebrate Botswana’s half-century of independence and continued commitment to democracy.
President Obama wishes all Batswana peace and prosperity in the coming year. ENDS
