Past and present beauty queens will celebrate 50 years of independence with nostaligia.
Beauty queens were in the past not given enough attention, but this changed in recent years
It would not be farfetched to credit Mpule Kwelagobe for change of attitudes towards beauty queens.
Recently, Phakalane Golf Estate hosted the Junior Miss Botswana beauty pageant and it was marvel to watch the young ones strut thenir stuff.
The competitors were divided into the Under 10 and Under 15 categories.
Intelligence, confidence, composure, poise, beauty and good public speaking characterised young ones’perfomance.
They came in evening gowns, traditional attire and even had their own dance moves much to the appreciation of those that were in attendance.
With the Under 10, Palesa Mokopakgosi was crowned the queen, Lorato Kgolagano first princess and Palesa Motsewetsho emerged second princess.
Bokang Mosimanewathebe triumphed in the Under 15, Pinki Kwailane and Sakshi Bhargava were first and second Princesses respectively.
The queen wont a tablet, P3 350 clothing voucher for a designer dress, a modelling portfolio and being a model representative for a year.
The first princess got a tablet and P2 700 clothing voucher for a designer dress from a local designer.
Second princess got a tablet and P2200 clothing voucher for a designer dress from a local designer as well.
Some of the local designers that would be designing the dresses for the winners are Mami Molapo, Lame Chilume and Buthu Chalegwa. ENDS
