Traditional songs, poems and dances were the order of the night at the Civic Centre hall on Friday when Lobatse BOT50 organising committee put up an elegant cultural dinner to stimulate people’s taste buds with traditional cuisine.

Men, women and children came clad in various breath-taking traditional attire designs especially the german print while others wore BOT50 t-shirts.

It was a marvel to watch as the young and old gathered together to revive the spirit of Setswana culture.

The attendees were salivating to the Indian beef biryani and some Chinese foods that saw everyone filling their plates and one could not fail to see most people revisiting their tables for some more.

The attendees experienced the warmth of the friendly Chinese and Indian people and took in the energetic Indian dance performances.

The attendees also feasted on traditional cuisines like serobe, chicken intestines,  Setswana chicken, liver, legodu, dikgobe, porridge and many more.

Matlotla traditional group also captivated the audience mood with their traditional dance songs wearing attractive attire patched with pieces of traditional shawl known as “mogagolwane”.

In her remarks, Lobatse town Mayor, Ms Malebogo Kruger, showed gratitude to the success of the event.

She said culture is important because it influences an individual’s life in various ways including, values, views, and desires.

She also said belonging to a culture provides people with a sense of identity, purpose and belonging. ENDS
